Previously:

When Hermione used a Time Turner to stop Merope from using magic on Tom Riddle and having Lord Voldemort; it shattered the multiverse.

Then, Clara pulled them into Doctor Who’s Tardis; so, they could to try to fix it.

Their attempts to fix things have failed, while the Tardis is losing power.

The hope is that if Merope returns to the point she left, it will reset the timeline: either back to its original history;

Or, a new course, if she goes with the Ministry Official, who was at her family cottage, when she snuck out, which could change everything.

As soon as Clara opened the Tardis door, Hermione stormed outside, followed close behind by Merope.

 There was a brief flash of light, as Hermione swept her wand in a wide arc, momentarily stunning everyone who had come down from the Riddle Manor and wiping their memories of what they had just seen.

 “Communi, Omnium Obviscaris! Communi, Omnium Impediare!” Hermione commanded, casting her spell. [“Muggles stop everything, forget everything!”]

 When they woke up, in a couple of hours, their minds would fill in the gap of time, thinking that they had all just passed out from their revelries, the night before.

 She wanted to stun everyone coming down from the Riddle Manor, who they had seen on the Tardis monitor, without stunning the Ministry of Magic Officer, who would shortly be coming out of the Gaunt cottage and apparating away, in a few seconds.

 After she saw everyone fall gently to the ground, from Hermione’s stunning spell, Merope squeezed her way past Hermione, out of the Tardis' force field, and back into her own time line.

 Hermione and Clara watched Merope hurry across the path and hide behind the fieldstone wall, separating the riverbank and the pathway, waiting for the Ministry Official to leave her family’s cottage.

 Just then, they saw the door open to the Gaunt cottage, letting out a stream of light, into the foggy night. They heard the Ministry Official talking to Merope’s father, Marvollo, warning him that he’d come back with members of the Auror’s office, given the lack of cooperation he’d found.

 “This flagrant disregard for the law cannot go unreported,” they heard him saying, “You must realize that.”

 Merope’s father was threatening that he’d send them all scurrying back to their Ministry holes, whimpering like the whelps they were, no matter how many came.

 The Ministry Officer was saying something else; they couldn’t make out, when he noticed a snake hanging on the door.

 Then, they heard her brother laughing; and, her Father telling the Officer how all the heirs of Slytherin could talk to snakes in Parseltongue.

 Clara and Hermione saw Merope turn back to wave good-bye. They waved back, and pointed to the Ministry Officer, urging her to get ready to catch him, before he could get away.

 He was turning away from the cottage in disgust, and maybe a little unnerved, by such a reception. “Be assured, I will return, and with reinforcements,” he warned. They couldn’t make out Marvollo’s roaring, indistinct reply.

 When she looked back, Merope was startled to see Tom Riddle lying unconscious at her feet. She couldn’t seem to stop herself from crawling over to him.

 “What’s she doing?” Clara whispered, poking Hermione, and pointing to Merope, as they peeked through the Tardis door. “More to the point, what’s she going to do?”

 “I don’t know,” Hermione admitted, whispering back. “It looks like, I don’t know,” Hermione frowned. It looked like all their efforts had been for nothing.

 “Well, whatever happens, it’s been fun,” Clara said, giving Hermione a hug, as they waited to see what Merope would do, and what would happen, next.
