Pandora Relents-

This was made for Let's Play The Similar, But Different Game!, hosted by ManipulateThis.

The Game:

Take A Completed Photomanipulation Created By Another Artist And Recreate It Using All Or Some Of The Same Stock And Resources, Adding New Stock And Resources, To Create A New Photomanipulation That Is Similar, But Different .

Game Pieces:

Spring, by Lora-Vysotskaya , adding a 2nd Game Piece,

Embracing the Autumn Sun, by marphilhearts

Lora-Vysotskaya’s is Spring and marphilhearts’ is an Autumn. So, they go together.

Instead of using the brushes and bokeh, used by marphilhearts,  I added Starfield Stock, by dadrian,  Big Lens And Optical Flare Collection, by daWIIZ, and Moon, by TinaLouiseUk.

And, round texture, by  MGB-Stock,  and the Butterflies, by Free-Stock-By-Wayne, used by Lora-Vysotskaya.

It's always interesting to see how everyone seems to see everything differently.

Thanks to
Lora-Vysotskaya, marphilhearts, ManipulateThis, and the Stock Artists.

Nota Bene:
- Just to forewarn anyone interested in entering this game, while this combination of Autumn and Spring was interesting to do, I've been informed that it doesn’t conform to the rules of the game, since it combines two (2) pieces.

Pandora Relents-

Pandora held the cage close to her heart. It was all that was left of everything the Gods and Goddess, the Divine, had given her, when They gave her life, and brought her living out of the dust of the Earth. There was only this one thing left; and, she hung on to it desperately.

Psyche walked with her, through the forest. Everywhere Pandora stepped it was late autumn, at every footfall; and, everywhere Psyche stepped, it was Spring.

“Pandora, won’t you let it go?” Psyche asked.

“It is all that I have left,” Pandora answered. “I cannot.”

“But, what of the others, the ones who have followed; Think of them,” She said.

Pandora only shook her head, “They have Thanatos. At least, they have rest, in the end.”

“But, you have something else,” Psyche reminded her.

“The one thing that wasn’t let out in the world, when the Divine gave you that pithos, to take to Earth; they don’t have hope. When everything else was released, the seal was put back, before it could get out,” Psyche reminded her.

And, no one knows if Pandora finally relented; or, if by some slip of the Fates, she tripped, on a tree root, from the Great Tree, breaking the seal, and released Hope, into the world, at last.

Notes:

[1] Pandora ("the all-gifted" or "the all-giving")[1] in Greek mythology, was the first human woman created by the gods, Hephaestus and Athena on the instructions of Zeus.[2][3]

[2] Pandora's box, in Greek mythology, is part of the myth of Pandora, in Hesiod's Works and Days.[1]

The "box" was actually a pithos, a large jar [2] given to Pandora. Pandora opened the jar and all the ills flew out, leaving only Hope, when she had closed it again.

[3] Psyche is a mortal woman, who the god Cupid falls in love with. The story is from Metamorphoses ( The Golden Ass), written in the 2nd century CE, by Lucius Apuleius.[2] [Psyche (Breath of Life) and Cupid (Love), and their sacred marriage.]

[4] The World Tree  is a motif present in several religions and mythologies, particularly Indo-European religions, Siberian religions, and Native American religions.

The world tree is a colossal tree which supports the heavens,  connecting the heavens, the earth, and underworld, through its roots. It is sometimes associated withthe tree of life.

[5] In Greek mythology, Fates were the incarnations of destiny; their Roman equivalent was the Parcae (euphemistically the "sparing ones"). Their number became fixed at three: Clotho (spinner), Lachesis (allotter) andAtropos (unturnable).

They wove the mother thread of life of every being.

“A good traveller has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.” -Lao Tzu

It would be nice to think there’s still Hope loose out in the world, somewhere.
